ChironAI™ OM · for billing and collections staff inside the practice

Close the small gaps where workers’ comp revenue leaks.

A visit never charged, a code under-leveled, a late payment whose penalty nobody claimed, an appeal window missed. Chiron closes each of those gaps and leaves your billers to work the exceptions.

What Chiron does · Billing and collections

The 12 tasks that pay back first.

In workers' compensation and med-legal billing, revenue is lost in small ways: a visit never charged, a code under-leveled, a late payment whose penalty nobody claimed, an appeal window missed. Chiron closes each of those gaps and leaves your billers to work the exceptions.

Ordered by what they return: revenue first, then errors avoided, then time saved.

Charges that could not be drafted

If Chiron cannot draft a charge for a visit, procedure, report, testimony or no-show, it tells your team in the Inbox straight away, so the work is still billed.

AI coding suggestions

Chiron suggests the E/M level from the note and orders, scored against the CMS 2021 medical decision-making grid and leveling on the higher of decision-making and time. For procedures it checks the recorded codes and proposes modifiers, units and ICD pointers, and drafts a code for a procedure recorded without one. For med-legal work it proposes the ML code and computes excess-page pricing. Each suggestion shows in a "Suggested by Chiron" panel with a confidence chip; the physician or biller confirms, and every override is recorded.

Fee schedule pricing

Every charge is priced at creation against the Official Medical Fee Schedule or the Medical-Legal Fee Schedule in effect on the date of service, and you can preview the fee before you create the charge. Each month Chiron checks for a new DWC physician fee order and loads it, checking a sample of codes afterwards and stopping to ask a person if anything is unclear. Once you add your service locations, workers' compensation charges are priced for your DWC locality; until then the statewide rate applies.

How a personal-injury case ended

Chiron records whether a personal-injury case settled, went to verdict, was dismissed, finished treatment or transferred, and ties a recorded settlement amount to the lien balance so the two never disagree.

Why it was denied, and where to take it

For a denied or underpaid bill, Chiron reads the EOR, suggests whether the cause is a billing dispute, a medical-necessity denial or a liability denial, and routes you to the forum that handles it, since bill review cannot reach the latter two.

Second-review windows still open

Chiron lists every underpaid or denied med-legal charge whose 90-day Second Bill Review window is open, with the days left and the dollars at risk.

Payment deadlines watched

Chiron computes the payment deadlines under Labor Code §4603.2 and §4622 in the right kind of days, skipping weekends and California state holidays where the rule calls for business days.

Timely-filing countdown

Chiron checks unbilled charges against the 12-month filing limit and alerts your billing team at 60, 30 and 15 days before it, rising in urgency, so no charge ages out unbilled.

Charges drafted when the work happens

Chiron drafts a charge when a visit is completed, a procedure is recorded, a med-legal report is attested, testimony is completed, sub rosa footage is reviewed or a no-show is marked. Nothing billable waits for someone to remember it. Drafts are never submitted without a person.

Blocked-and-why worklist

Chiron sorts your billing into one worklist of what is blocked and why — a denial, a missing EOR, an unfiled dispute — with the money at risk and the next step.

Appeals, second review and IBR

Open an appeal on a denied or underpaid charge and Chiron prepares a populated, clearly labelled equivalent of the DWC Second Bill Review (SBR-1) and Independent Bill Review (IBR-1) request forms, and shows the IBR filing fee.

Questions practices ask

Before you ask.

Does Chiron replace my biller?
No. Chiron drafts the charge when the work happens, suggests the codes, prices the charge against the fee schedule, reads an EOR into proposed fields and calculates any late-payment penalty. Your biller confirms the codes, submits, and confirms each payment before it posts. Nothing is submitted or posted without a person.
Who on my team can see what?
Each role, whether physician, coordinator, front desk, billing staff or administrator, sees only what its work needs; billing staff, for example, can correct claim details without seeing diagnoses. The primary treating physician controls who else may open an individual case. Where something is outside your access, OM shows that it is withheld rather than hiding that it exists.
